Ronnie James Dio, pseudonimo di Ronald James Padavona , è stato un cantautore statunitense heavy metal che ha fatto parte di storici gruppi come Rainbow e Black Sabbath e ha poi fondato un proprio gruppo di grande successo, noto come Dio.
La sua voce è considerata una delle più esemplari e apprezzate nella storia dell'heavy metal; è stato uno dei massimi esponenti di questo genere e l'inventore e diffusore del gesto delle corna nell'ambito dell'heavy metal. Secondo una versione fornita dallo stesso cantante, l'atto deriverebbe direttamente dal classico gesto apotropaico italiano, che sua nonna faceva spesso.
