“È vero che siamo bombardati dalle informazioni e le informazioni non sono la conoscenza, sono una collezione superficiale di fatti e dobbiamo guardare alla letteratura, agli scrittori per avere un'interpretazione dei fatti, per capire ciò che ha preceduto e seguito i fatti. Certo, ci sono dei commentatori che analizzano gli eventi, ma come ci influenzano questi eventi? Questo viene dagli scrittori. Per esempio, pensiamo ad una manifestazione che poi degenera in violenza. Che cosa ha portato Tizio o Caio ad unirsi alla manifestazione? Che cosa è successo a casa sua quel giorno? Ci sono delle circostanze dietro i motivi della manifestazione, magari c'è una madre che ha detto, 'fai attenzione, ti metti nei guai'. Poi succede qualcosa, magari si spara, ci sono dei morti e dei feriti. E che cosa succede dopo? Come si affrontano le conseguenze? Qui interviene lo scrittore, solo uno scrittore crea le persone, prende in mano la cosa, si avvale della Storia grande e foggia qualcosa che fa diventare una storia una serie di eventi.”
