Origine: Il feldmarschall Model si rivolge, con questa frase, al suo stato maggiore dopo la disfatta sul Fronte Occidentale nel fermare l'avanzata degli Alleati verso le metà dell'aprile 1945.

Origine: Durante la Campagnia di Russia la sua IX armata fu accerchiata dai sovietici (1942). Invano il generale Model comunicò con L'OKW (Keitel-Jodl), per richiedere una divisione carazzata che gli fu rifiutata. Model andò di persona da Hitler al quartier generale e senza peli sulla lingua "pretese" quella dannata divisione. Fu una delle rare occasioni in cui Hitler fece marcia indietro accontentando Model. In seguito, come scrive Carlo d'Este, i fatti gli diedero ragione, poiché come comandante al fronte era Model che doveva prendere le decisioni.
