Albrecht Dürer è stato un pittore, incisore, matematico e trattatista tedesco.

Figlio di un ungherese, viene considerato il massimo esponente della pittura tedesca rinascimentale. A Venezia l'artista entrò in contatto con ambienti neoplatonici. Si presume che tali ambienti abbiano sollevato il suo carattere verso l'aggregazione esoterica. Classico esempio è l'opera dal titolo Melencolia I, realizzata nel 1514, in cui sono presenti evidenti simbologie ermetiche.
