José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero è un politico spagnolo, presidente del Governo della Spagna dal 17 aprile 2004 al 21 dicembre 2011.

Come leader del Partito Socialista Operaio Spagnolo , ha vinto le elezioni generali del 2004 e quelle del 2008. Tra i provvedimenti iniziali del primo governo Zapatero i più importanti sono il ritiro dell'esercito spagnolo dall'Iraq, le controverse trattative con l'ETA, la legalizzazione dei matrimoni tra omosessuali e un programma di regolarizzazione per gli immigrati clandestini.
