Né è facile che uno stesso popolo abbia molti poeti che compongano i versi con tanto sentimento e musica come quelli dell'Iliade, senza parole che manchino o eccedano; né che tutti i diversi cantori abbiano il giudizio e la grandezza dei canti di Omero, dove sembra un padre quello che parla.”
