Dopo aver debuttato nel 1993 con il romanzo Pioggia sul viso , con cui ha vinto il Premio Edogawa Ranpo, ha raggiunto la notorietà con il suo romanzo Le quattro casalinghe di Tokyo, pubblicato nel 1997. È ritenuta una delle più importanti scrittrici giapponesi. Wikipedia
