Alice Munro è una scrittrice canadese, vincitrice del premio Nobel per la letteratura nel 2013, assegnatole il 10 ottobre.

Già vincitrice per tre volte del Governor General's Award, il più importante premio letterario canadese. I suoi racconti indagano le relazioni umane viste attraverso la lente della vita quotidiana, analizzando come pensieri, ricordi, segreti e premonizioni possano convivere, riuscendo a trasformare il pettegolezzo in arte. Sebbene la maggior parte delle sue short stories sia ambientata nel Southwestern Ontario, la sua fama come scrittrice di racconti è internazionale. Il suo stile, ingannevolmente semplice, "frammenta" il racconto su se stesso, interrompendolo di continuo, tornando su se stesso, aggiungendo un episodio risalente al passato.
