Paul Joseph Goebbels è stato un influente politico e giornalista tedesco durante il periodo nazista. Dal 1926 al 1945, ha ricoperto il ruolo di Gauleiter di Berlino e dal 1933 al 1945 è stato il ministro della Propaganda del Terzo Reich. Inoltre, è stato anche il ministro plenipotenziario per la mobilizzazione alla guerra totale e generale della Wehrmacht e si è occupato personalmente della difesa di Berlino nell'aprile del 1945. Dopo il suicidio di Adolf Hitler, Goebbels ha assunto la posizione di cancelliere del Reich per quasi due giorni.

Goebbels è stato considerato il secondo in comando nel nazismo e le sue abili strategie di propaganda sono state uno dei fattori chiave che hanno contribuito all'ascesa al potere del Partito Nazionalsocialista Tedesco dei Lavoratori nel 1933. Oltre alle sue capacità politiche, Goebbels era anche una persona molto colta, avendo conseguito un dottorato in letteratura. Per questo motivo, molti lo chiamavano "Herr Doktor", incluso lo stesso Hitler.
